Technology And Modern Era
Technology And Modern Era
When we hear about a technological revolution, whether it be cars, television, or social media, it can often feel like something new and exciting has been unleashed on us all. But what if there was once a time when technologies were less advanced, and even more unknown? We are currently living through an era where computers have become smaller, which means they no longer have to have large hard-drives to store content. This begs the question: What does this lead to?
The internet, for example, can be used as both a tool for communication and a way for people to communicate with one another. If you don’t know how to say you love someone online, that can be difficult for them to find out. There are some ways to prevent this from happening without much effort. First, take care of yourself. Take good care of your health first. Then consider how you would deal if others did not: “This person may need help finding someone who can relate to their experiences. Or perhaps this information will only be useful if it helps her, and she may be alone…” (National Alliance on Mental Illness). By doing this, you can make sure that she knows she doesn't need to worry too much. Another thing we should remember is that we are still being very close to each other now, so we can expect to keep our connections strong. It's important to remind ourselves to focus on the positive aspects of the situation, and keep everything in perspective. Because let's face it: Sometimes life gets hard, but sometimes you want to use your brain, and just get some help. Be open to getting that help. You can usually find people on Facebook or Instagram waiting for you to ask them how they're doing.
Technology, although it has improved tremendously since the 1950s, is also having a negative impact on society today. The news article below, written by John McWhorter highlights some examples of dangerous trends. While his article sounds rather pessimistic at times, it could be an excellent piece to read if there's anyone reading who is interested in learning more about these current issues.
“…the most striking illustration was the trend to give teachers credit for using tech tools to engage students during virtual instruction and test scores which have dropped...” (McWhorter)
With education becoming increasingly digitalized, teachers are losing their ability to effectively communicate with students. They can no longer do homework assignments properly, because the school system has been forced to spend money building apps and websites that aren't compatible with their old software. Teachers are struggling financially, and because their jobs are increasingly difficult, many teachers are quitting their teaching careers altogether. Many colleges and universities require these essential skills from teachers to provide effective courses. Even after these requirements have been met, it is important to consider that every course is different, and there is definitely a tendency for students to quit their classes in favor of working more hours in order to earn more wages.
This is a huge concern for schools that receive public funding, because these funds are being wasted on projects that do not really bring benefits to them. As explained above, there are lots of alternatives available for teachers that don't cost anything. In fact, some studies suggest that companies are hiring educators right out of college; however, these positions can only be filled by highly qualified specialists. With teachers' unemployment rates reaching record highs, educational policy makers and local community leaders must step up to ensure that quality, accessible education remains available all time.
In conclusion, technology has made a lot of things possible; and it continues to advance rapidly. Today, it's easier than ever to go online, browse the web, read emails, and watch videos. However, it has also led to many problems and complications in today's economy. These range from financial stress to job loss to mental health problems that stem from overexposure to technology. There is hope, though, that things will soon change. Thanks to advances in science and medicine, we are on our path towards fixing this problem and improving access to safe information and opportunities. For now, we can only wait for the day that technology becomes truly obsolete, before we can all realize what it has and does for us all.
